Lucky Cat Baskets for Clinic and Salon Openings
Small premises cannot fit a two-metre stand. A lucky cat basket gives the same congratulation, fits a counter, and stays long after the opening week.

A dental clinic in a shoplot, a hair salon on an upper floor, a nail studio inside a mall — these openings get the same congratulations as a big retail launch, but they have no five-foot way to put a stand on. This is where a lucky cat basket does the job better.
Why a basket suits a clinic or salon
- It fits. A reception counter, a waiting-area shelf or a payment desk. No floor space needed.
- It stays. A flower stand is collected after two or three days. A lucky cat basket with soap flowers sits at the counter for months and keeps reminding the owner who sent it.
- It is quiet. Clinics in particular do not want a two-metre red-and-gold stand outside a waiting room full of patients.
- Mall management allows it. Most malls will not let you place a stand outside a unit, but nobody objects to a basket carried in.
Which cat to choose
The raised paw and the colour both carry meaning, and for a business opening the choice is fairly settled:
- Right paw raised — invites money and customers. This is the one for a salon, clinic or any shop with walk-in trade.
- Left paw raised — invites people and good relationships. Good for a clinic that lives on referrals.
- Gold — prosperity. The default for a business gift and always safe.
- White — purity and a clean start. Reads well in a medical or beauty setting where the interior is usually white.
- Pink — often chosen for beauty, nail and hair studios, and for a friend rather than a corporate contact.
- Black — protection and warding off bad luck. Well understood, but ask first if you do not know the owner well.
What to write on the card
Keep it short and name yourself clearly. For a clinic, "Congratulations on your new clinic" plus your name is enough — avoid anything that jokes about needing a doctor. For a salon, 生意興隆 with your name below works, as does "Tahniah atas pembukaan salun anda".
Budget and timing
- Small counter basket: from about RM150.
- Medium basket with a fuller soap flower arrangement: RM220 to RM350.
- Large basket, or a basket plus a single-tier stand for a clinic with street frontage: RM400 and up.
Two working days minimum. For a mall unit, tell us the mall, the floor and the unit number, and whether loading bay access is required — some malls will only allow deliveries through a service lift before opening hours.
Frequently asked questions
Is a lucky cat appropriate for a non-Chinese business owner?
Widely, yes — it is read as a general good-fortune gift in Malaysia. If you are unsure, a soap flower gift box with a card is completely neutral.
Can I send a basket and a stand together?
Yes, and it is a good combination for a clinic with street frontage: the stand for the opening day, the basket for the counter afterwards.
Do the soap flowers in the basket last?
Yes, months in an air-conditioned room. Keep them out of direct sun and away from water.
Can you deliver before the clinic opens for business?
Usually yes. Tell us the opening hour and we will deliver ahead of it.
