Where to Place Restaurant Opening Stands

Published 7 Nov 2026by Fei Fei Floral

Get manager approval before placing a restaurant opening flower stand, with a practical plan for clear exits, unpacking and collection.

Where to Place Restaurant Opening Stands

Place a restaurant opening flower stand only in a spot approved by the restaurant manager, away from exits, food preparation and service routes. For a KL restaurant opening, the best position is not necessarily beside the main door: it is where the display can be seen without interrupting how people enter, queue, eat and work.

Ask the manager to approve a specific spot

A sender’s preferred photo location is not permission to use that space. Ask the manager or designated opening coordinator to approve a marked position on a floor plan or photograph. If the entrance opens onto shared premises, ask whether building management approval is also needed.

Confirm the stand’s overall dimensions, including its base and any projecting decorations, before agreeing on placement. A narrow-looking arrangement may occupy more floor space than its flowers suggest. Browse [grand opening stands](/shop/grand-opening-stands) with the proposed location in mind, rather than choosing solely by colour.

Ask who can accept the stand and who may authorise a move if the planned spot becomes unsuitable. Give that person the delivery contact details and approved placement photo.

Check the restaurant in service mode

An empty dining room can hide problems that appear once guests arrive. Review the position with doors open, chairs pulled out and the expected queue in place. Keep exits, access to emergency equipment and routes used by staff carrying hot dishes clear. Ask the venue to confirm its required clearances; do not guess a universal distance.

Keep the stand away from preparation benches, exposed food, collection counters and dishwashing areas. Do not put it where wrapping could brush against plates or where decorations might extend over food. Decorative flowers are not food-contact items, and placement does not establish that they are food-safe or pest-free.

For broader sender etiquette, see [grand opening stand etiquette in Kuala Lumpur](/journal/grand-opening-stand-kuala-lumpur-etiquette). Restaurant placement still needs separate operational approval.

Fill in this placement worksheet

Send these details to the manager before finalising the arrangement:

- Primary spot: attach a marked photo and the stand’s confirmed dimensions.
- Service check: identify nearby exits, queues, food areas and staff routes.
- Backup spot: name a second location requiring manager approval.
- Receiving person: record their name, contact and agreed receiving window.
- Unpacking area: specify where packaging can be removed away from service.
- After-event owner: name who will review, relocate or arrange removal of the stand.

For example, a stand beside the host station might obstruct takeaway customers waiting for orders. A manager-approved wall position farther from the queue could work better, provided it leaves access clear and does not crowd diners. If neither position works, do not improvise in a corridor.

Unpack separately, then review after the event

Agree on an unpacking area away from food preparation and active service. Collect wrapping, ties and loose pieces there rather than leaving them beside the entrance. The receiving person should check the display before it moves into its approved position.

After the opening photographs, ask the manager whether the stand can remain during normal service. Confirm who handles any relocation, collection or disposal; do not assume these are included. Recheck the space if tables or queues move.
